PDP’s Ajayi Alleges Election Compromise in Ondo, Calls for INEC Chairman’s Resignation

November 16,2024.

Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Ondo State governorship election today, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of compromising the election.

Speaking after voting in his polling unit in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, Ajayi criticized INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, urging him to resign for failing to ensure a credible process.

Ajayi, who won his polling unit, described the election as flawed, citing delayed accreditation by the BVAS machine and reports of widespread vote-buying and voter suppression.

He also expressed concerns over excessive security presence, claiming it intimidated voters in his community.

The candidate accused INEC officials of bias and suggested the electoral process had regressed under Yakubu’s leadership compared to previous administrations.
