PDP Tackles Okpebholo As Councillors Impeach More Local Government Chairmen

November 7,2024.

The Peoples Democratic Party have criticized Governor Monday Okpebholo, accusing him of undue influence in the impeachment and suspension of council chairmen across the state.

This follows the chairmen’s suspension by the state assembly after failing to meet a 48-hour ultimatum by the governor to submit the financial statements of their councils.

Reacting, the party also vowed to file a contempt case against two suspended chairmen, Dickson Ahonsi and Edosa Enowoghomenma, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, alleging their actions violated a court order reinstating them.

In a separate development, the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered Governor Okpebholo, the Edo State House of Assembly, and other defendants to maintain the status quo pending the hearing of the substantive suit filed by the suspended 18 local government chairmen.
