OSSIEC Chairman Accuses Police of Arresting Staff During Osun Local Government Poll

The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, has raised alarm over the arrest of commission staff on election duty by the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement posted on OSSIEC’s official X page today, Abioye commended voters for turning out despite the challenges.
He also apologized to the media for the commission’s failure to provide accreditation materials, blaming the police for sealing off OSSIEC’s headquarters, where the materials were stored.
Abioye attributed delays in some polling units to the arrest of officials responsible for delivering election materials.
However, he assured voters that new materials had been dispatched to ensure the continuation of the election.
