The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in February 2025.
In a memo dated November 20, 2024, INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony directed Resident Electoral Commissioners to prepare for the exercise, which will start at the Local Government Area (LGA) level before extending to Registration Areas (RAs).
The memo requested details on the status of INEC Voter Enrolment Devices (IVED), printers, and CVR forms, and it also instructed state offices to select staff for voter registration and prepare information on uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
This marks the first nationwide voter registration since its suspension in July 2022, ahead of the 2023 general election, as the exercise aims to boost voter participation, with INEC focusing on improving accessibility and transparency.
