Edo PDP, APC Clash Over Secretariat Invasion Allegations

November 22,2024.

The Edo State chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) are in a war of words over allegations of an attack on the PDP secretariat in Benin City.

The PDP, through its publicity secretary, Chris Nehikhare, claimed that APC members led by a relative of the party’s state youth leader mobilized thugs to invade its secretariat.

They allegedly destroyed doors, windows, and office equipment, ransacked the premises, and carted away valuables, including electronics and computers.

Nehikhare condemned the attack, describing it as a desperate attempt by APC to intimidate the PDP and hinder its legal challenge to reclaim its “stolen” mandate from the September 21 governorship election, calling on security agencies to investigate the incident.

In response, APC publicity secretary Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie dismissed the allegations as baseless, urging the PDP to resolve its internal issues instead of dragging the APC into its affairs.
